Maggie Cochrane, M.A.
Maggie is a mental performance consultant in Edina, MN and is the founder of THRIVE, LLC. She is currently working towards her CMPC certification through the Association for Applied Sport Psychology. As a multi-sport athlete, Maggie recognized the value of a positive mindset and the importance of mental skills early on in her athletic career. As a team captain and leader, she focused on fostering motivation, confidence, and mental toughness within her teammates.
After an injury sidelined her in college, Maggie began to understand the effects of an injury on her mentally. While there was an athletic trainer to help her regain physical strength, she didn’t have support with the mental strength she was lacking and needed to fully return. Because of her inability to come back 100% mentally, Maggie’s volleyball career ended at the collegiate level. It was this experience, as well as her interests and passion for helping people and for the mental aspects of performance, that solidified her decision to pursue her further education in the field of sport and performance psychology.
Maggie played high school volleyball at Edina High School in Edina, MN, and club volleyball for M1 in Bloomington, MN. She then went on to play collegiately at DePauw University in Greencastle, IN. Maggie earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from DePauw in 2016 before receiving her master’s degree in Sport and Exercise Psychology from Minnesota State University in Mankato, MN. Her graduate research looked at areas such as perfectionism in athletes, returning to play after an injury, and body image within the context of sport. Her capstone thesis project, “How What Coaches Say Influences Athletes’ Relationships with Food and Body”, focused on athletes’ body image and was implemented as part of an educational program for youth coaches at WithAll, a nonprofit organization in Minneapolis, MN.
Maggie has 4+ years of experience consulting with individual athletes and performers at both the high school and collegiate levels. She also has had the opportunity to organize and lead mental training sessions for local high school sports teams.
When she’s not consulting with athletes or performers, Maggie is most likely still doing something sport-related whether it’s coaching volleyball in Edina, refereeing soccer across the metro, directing a volleyball club, watching the Vikings, or playing golf with friends. Maggie also enjoys road trips, spending time at her family’s cabin, hanging out at local breweries, and attending farmers’ markets on weekend mornings.
Maggie is dedicated to this work and is here to help you thrive.
